Dr. Robert Mason is a Vascular and Interventional Radiologist, who began his career at Royal Victoria Regional Health Center in 1998. As the first fellowship trained interventional radiologist, he worked with the hospital to start a robust and comprehensive vascular and interventional radiology program in Barrie.
 
Dr. Mason completed a degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Toronto, and went on to complete his medical degree at the University of Toronto in 1992.  He finished his Radiology training at the University of Toronto in 1997, then undertook a vascular and interventional radiology fellowship at the University Health Network.
 
Dr. Mason has practiced interventional radiology for over 20 years, and has extensive experience in a wide range of radiology procedures.  In particular, he enjoys minimally invasive treatment of peripheral vascular disease, interventional oncology, and hemodialysis access and maintenance.

Dr. Christopher L. Guest is a Vascular & Interventional Radiologist and Chief of Radiology at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie, Ontario.  He has practiced in Barrie since 2001. Dr. Guest did his undergraduate degree in Theoretical Physics at the University of Western Ontario and went on to complete his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Toronto in 1996. His Radiology Residency was also completed at the University of Toronto, followed by a Clinical Fellowship in Vascular & Interventional Radiology at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.

Dr. Guest has completed numerous post graduate training programs in the rapidly evolving field of Interventional Radiology including: Uterine Fibroid Embolization at Georgetown University, Percutaneous Vertebroplasty at Johns Hopkins University, Percutaneous Kyphoplasty at University of Toronto, Radiofrequency Tumour Ablation at Wake Forest University and Endovascular Stroke Treatment at the Montreal Neurological Institute. He has also participated in several Interventional Oncology post graduate programs in Chicago, London, Copenhagen, Munich, Rome, and Kyoto. Dr. Guest has a special interest in mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke and has recently completed several months of Interventional Neuroradiology training at high volume European stroke centres in Bordeaux, Montpellier and Barcelona.

Dr. Drew Schemmer BSc, MD, FRCPC, DABR

Drew Schemmer has vast experience in endovascular (EV) treatment of peripheral artery disease,  EV treatment of Aortic aneurysms (EVAR / pEVAR), and Inverventional Oncological procedures.  He also have experience in treatment of sports injuries and therapeutic pain techniques, formally leading a Pain clinic in Calgary Alberta.

His research initiatives are high-lighted a co-investigator of the international CORAL and KAVIAR trials.

He enjoys spending his free time cycling, travelling and dreams of returning to speed skating.

Dr. Mark O. Baerlocher MD, FRCPC, DABR

Dr. Baerlocher obtained his MD and radiology residency both at the University of Toronto, and his fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of California, San Diego. He has published 151 peer-reviewed papers, given 79 conference presentations/abstracts, 14 book chapters, 1 book, and currently serves on numerous provincial, national, and international committees. Dr. Baerlocher currently chairs 2 of the Standards and Guidelines committees for the Society of Interventional Radiology, is Chair of the Radiology Section for the Ontario Medical Association, and is on the Board for the Ontario Association of Radiologists. He has co-authored and first-authored numerous international guidelines and standards of practice documents, and is currently writing the updated Standards of Practice/Guidelines on endovenous ablation of varicose veins for the Society of Interventional Radiology. Dr. Baerlocher has an interest in all Interventional Radiology procedures, in particular vascular intervention, vertebroplasty, and cancer treatments including chemoembolization and ablation.

Dr. Nick Lougheed MD, FRCPC

Dr. Nick Lougheed attended medical school in Dublin Ireland, followed by radiology residency training at McMaster University. He completed fellowship training in vascular and interventional radiology at University Health Network in Toronto. During his fellowship he gained extensive experience in interventional oncology and provides many minimal invasive cancer treatments at RVH. He has additional fellowship training in advanced cardiac imaging and started the Cardiac MRI program at RVH that is the only program of its kind for the patients of Barrie and the remainder of northern Ontario.
